HNS Proposal Outline
An abstract and outline is all that is needed to put forward an idea and or to establish a working relationship with HNS. If a project wishes to request financial assistance or to become a HNS project then an introduction and budget are also necessary. Deadline for the current call is November 1, 2007, resubmission January 22, 2008 (late proposals will not be considered for funding in 2008).
Abstract
An identification of the historical records, proposed location and an introduction to the authours.
Outline
A detail of the assets of working with that particular data source, in that area, with the authours indicated. It must also include: a) A list of what information (quantity and quality) the historical records posses, who will gather the information, put it in to the HNS database and be available to work with re-sampling efforts (sampling, sorting, taxonomic identification). b) Details of the site including information on accessibility (maps and photos should be included). c) A proposed schedule including time and the division of labor required (volunteers, graduate students etc).
Introduction
A sales pitch; a referenced introduction to the proposed project.
Budget
A comprehensive (justification must be included) outline of funds needed including those supplied by other sources and those requested.
