JSPS-NaGISA Sponge Taxonomy Training Workshop, May 31 to June 2, 2009,　Chonburi, Thailand.

The JSPS-NaGISA Sponge Taxonomy Training Workshop was held at Burapha University in Chonburi, Thailand. Dr. Somchai Bussarawit, Phuket Marine Biological Center, and Assoc. Prof. Kashane Chalermwat, Burapha niversity, hosted the workshop which attracted 38 participants from seven countries (Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Israel, Thailand, and Japan).
Dr. Yuji Ise from the University of Tokyo, Dr. Sumaitt Putchakarn from Burapha University, and Dr. Udomsak Darumas from Walailak University instructed the lectures and laboratory training, and the participants identified sponge samples in Thailand as well as samples collected in their home countries. see Photos
